naturalwestmichigan.com/homemade-pet-playthings"As pet guardians, we know the joy of spoiling our beloved furry and feathered friends with toys, treats and accessories. While such diversions can offer hours of fun and bonding, some store-bought items can pose dangers, including choking hazards, intestinal blockage and damage, or exposure to harmful toxins used in plastics...." My notes: Some good tips on homemade pet toys.

No matter what the toy, you should be supervising the dog. They can tear it up and swallow pieces.

I have two lovely labradors and they always use chew toys. When they are getting old i just replace them with the same thing newer version. The important thing here - to find a very good quality toys from a specialized store which feet exactly your dog. We found some great choice in pet meds online. Used to order our tick/flea treatment and dental care kits there too.

I just go off of what looks safe and what my dogs like. As long as you keep an eye on your pets I don't see any toy as being harmful. Just gotta make sure they are good because they are like toddlers. They don't understand.

Would a dog chase a lazer toy? With our last dog, when we would play with our cats with the laser, she'd try to get it too. Ours right now doesn't care for it.

Would a dog chase a lazer toy? I have had a dog chase it, I find it the most hilarious thing ever because they aren't known for it.

I have been avoiding the strong shaped toys for the pets. Be it cat or dogs or even the budgies. I make sure to see if they wont hurt themselves while chewing the toys. I have seen the dogs and budgies are into chewing more than the cats.

I buy a lot of pet toys for my dog and cat xD. Although most of the time they use it weirdly I still enjoy seeing them play around with balls and chew toys.

My cats and my sons love the laser pointer. They have some soft toys that have catnip inside as well. Smokey my youngest will find "toys" to play with. I have seen her tip over the trash can in the bathroom and play with q-tips. Not to mention my stuffed animal collection...lol

I had to delete the initial post as the link wasn't valid anymore so I replaced it with the newer one for homemade. Enjoy

My dog doesn't play with toys, nor does he chew. I am not sure what the problem is. We got him as a puppy from the local shelter and they didn't tell us about his history. He is an odd dog but he is still happy. He will play with my father-in-law's dogs, though. But these are good tips

I had to teach her how to "play". She will chew on sticks if I throw them but only for a minute. But she does love crunching on snowballs!
Do you get snow in your area? Have you tried throwing snowballs? Our last dog loved them too as does our one cat who likes to chase the smaller ones I roll for her.

My mom said that as well, but I didn't really believe her because she isn't the best source of information. But it makes sense now that someone else has told me. Maybe I should teach him? How long did your dog take to learn how to play? My dog is a slow learner. It took him forever to figure out that the house is not the place to go the bathroom. But he is a pro at it now.

That's funny lol
A couple of months but again, she was abused so just raising your hand, she took as a bad sign. It was funny too because we have a pet enclosure with a high fence & cat-fence-in netting (that's the name too lol) out of our walkout basement. I have a perimeter of flowers & in 2 places there's tall ornamental grass. I call it Kitty Playing Grass lol because when it gets long enough, I pull out a strand or two (it's like 5') & play with our cats. Well our dog was watching this when we first got her. She started mimicking the cats & would go & grab one of the grasses! So now after 7 years of this, the cats & our dog still love playing with their grass She doesn't care for balls but it was great how she felt comfortable to mimic the cats. It warmed my heart! What breed is your dog? Ours is husky mix.
